Fall Lip Color

The other day while walking through the mall, I decided to stop by the Mac counter and see what fall lip colors they had. I have always wanted to pull off the a deep plum/red during this time of year but never seemed to find the right shade for my complection.

I finally found it!

Color: Viva Glam Matte

My thoughts: After wearing this lipstick all day Friday, I really fell in love with it. I applied it around 7:30am and only had to reapply once. I actually had to scrub it off at night it was so good! My real test with lipstick is the lunch/coffee break test - and guess what? It didn't even budge.

What type of lipstick do you wear?

A Typical Work Outfit

A Typical Day At Work

If you visited me at work today, you would probably find me wearing something very similar to this. School has officially been in session for one month and I am really finding myself fitting into my new role as the Learning Commons Specialist (aka technology/research chick).

On a typical day, you will find me running up and down flights of stairs to man both of my stations. Our school is divided into the lower (k-2) and upper school (3-5) and I serve both. Between book check outs, cupcake parties, blogging, story time, research projects and digitizing our library, I make sure to always try and dress professional yet livable. Somedays I am on my knees for hours putting books away or crawling on the floor pretending to be a very hungry caterpillar  Have I mentioned I truly love what I do and am so humbled by the opportunity to touch the lives of children, even in such a simple way.

Oh yeah, and my hair has been up lately in this bun-ish thing and guess what I am constantly hearing.... "Mrs. Diaz you look so much like a librarian now." It makes me laugh every time. I guess they are right. But hey, it sure keeps my hair out of the way!

Roasted Tomato Salsa

This past weekend was spent preparing for and celebrating my husband's birthday. On Saturday, I woke up ready to go for a full day of sauteeing, roasting, chopping, baking and simmering. Sunday was party day. I threw a football themed mini get together with an assortment of appetizers and chili. A full recap of the party and some of his birthday festivities will come later this week.

Out of the two salsa's we made, I wanted to share my favorite with you.

Roasted Tomato Salsa
2 lb ripe tomatoes
4 fresh green chillies
1 onion, thickly sliced
a bunch of cilantro
fine sea salt
a pinch of sugar
juice of one lime

1. Heat a stove top pan on high high. Add the tomatoes, onion and chillies and cook for 3-5 minutes on each side until charred all over. Let cool.

2. Place all ingredients into a food processor or blender and work into a course puree. Transfer to bowl and stir salt, sugar and lime juice.

3. Chill until needed.

I promise you will love this dish! It tastes so fresh and has the perfect amount of flavor. Enjoy!

Meet Our Frenchie

Remember when I told you about our french bulldog story and how dreamy I think they are?? Well do I have news for you!

As of Sunday night, my husband and I are the proud owners of a 10 week old Frenchie!

Meet Gari.

We chose the name a few years ago- thinking a dog with a name that's a combo of our names would be pretty neat. (Gabriel + Erica = Gari)

We are totally in love with him. I am sure I'll be posting way to many stories and pictures for the next 10-12 years! So be on the look out!! ;) But for now, we'll be spending many days and nights training him to perfection... or at least to learn to not potty in the house (baby steps).

I'm so excited that the week is finally coming to an end - not because I didn't like the past week, but I am really looking forward to a nice 3 day weekend here at home. Gabriel will be home this weekend too and has agreed to work on house projects with me! We made our list last night of what we want to tackle and I will be sure to share our results with you next week!

Top 5:
1. Scored a new free bookshelf for our home office!
2. Got some wedding pictures developed!
3. Taught my first full week of story time to each of my classes!
4. Made new & improved shelf markers (tutorial coming soon)
5. Got to have a weekend getaway at the Ponte Vedra TPC Sawgrass!

How was your week? Got any special long weekend plans?
