Hi, friend! My name is Erica Diaz and I am the blogger behind Inspired By Above. This blog is a collection of things that inspire me: recipes, crafts, wedding tips and wife stories to name a few. About a year ago, my husband and I started a paper co. that has been thriving ever since and we are so humbled everyday by your support to our little dream!

  My husband, Gabriel, and I are both Florida natives and currently live in Miami, Florida. During the day, you will find me working as a christian elementary school 'mod librarian' and my husband as a 'cool sales guy'.

The newest member of the family is our french bull dog, Gari. He is our pride and joy. Aside from spending time together as a family, we love to travel, try new foods, garden, cook, explore the city and hang out in our humble abode.

We owe all of our inspiration to God and are thankful for the desires He has placed our hearts.  I hope this blog brings inspiration to your life and helps you focus on the simple things life has to offer.

Lately I've been dreaming in shades of milky gray, mint green, black and white. Our spring/summer is in full swing in south florida and all I want to do it be outside! I'm sure this urge will disappear as the temperatures rise within the coming months. But for now, you can find us surrounded by succulents on our back patio watching

Oh Happy Day! 

Day Dreaming Of Our Life Circa: 1 Year Ago

Whoever invented holidays must have been a very wise person. There is something about this time of year that makes people

weary

and

desperate

for summer months to appear.

Last spring break, we ventured to the great ol' land down under, thanks to my

over traveled 

husband and his stacked high skyline miles. While in Australia, we stayed with our dear friend

Abby

, who had just moved there "for a year" to be an au pair. You can read how her story turned out

God laughs when we say we are in control, people. 

On our way to Aussie, we had a layover in LA which totaled our trip to 24 hours. 

Yikes!

Totally worth it though!! We spent most of our 17 days abroad wandering through Sydney and her surrounding areas. We

planned

a trip to the great barrier reef, but had to reconsider due to monstrous fall weather. Ten hours into our flight back, we stopped in Hawaii for 5 days and stayed in a little quaint cottage on the northern rim of Oahu. (

When I travel, I always come back in awe of this amazing place we call our

temporary 

home. The way God orchestrated such beautiful landmasses and geography together blows my mind.

Next week, Gabriel and I are headed to Jamaica, to visit the same spot we got

engaged

at four years ago. That little island sure holds a special place in our hearts. A few days into the trip, my in-loves will be joining us for some much needed rest + relaxation.

You don't have to travel to a fancy place to see the beauty of this world, friends. Plan a picnic, go on a hike, plant a garden or simply hop in the car + wander to a place unknown.

In other news, Gabriel and I are looking forward to attending The Knot's new + improved website launch event at a swanky

venue

near the beach tonight. Looks like it's a date night/work event kind of night for us! A follow up post will be coming soon to recap on our favorite wedding trends of the new season.

The Art of Modern Calligraphy

Each piece is designed by hand in our studio, and we also offer many choices from envelope styles to ink colors.

So what is modern calligraphy?

Modern Calligraphy can be created through the use of traditional quill/nibs, brush stroke pens or metallic markers. It is the combination of thin upward strokes and heavy downward strokes. Best know for its whismy, free spirited nature and use of heavy flourishes.

Modern calligraphy is currently used on many book jacket designs, invitations, envelopes, place cards & wall art. If you are interested in having work created, we are currently taking inquiries at erica@inspiredbyabove.com.
