The Art Of Lace

If you had a chance to catch my sister's dutch braid tutorial this week on the blog, then you might have noticed her adorable peter pan collared lace shirt. Isn't it just perfect for the summer?

Dutch Braid Video Tutorial

This week, my little sister is staying with us in town. Our week has consisted of movies, food, fashion and plenty of back to school shopping (she is a sophomore in high school).

Remember the braid my sister did in my hair for my bridal shower in October? She loves braiding hair - so yesterday, I made sure to snag some time to make a short tutorial for you on a very simple and quick dutch braid.

So what do you think? Would you attempt this braid for school or work? For more on my sister's summer style in the video, check back tomorrow for a wardrobe review.

Aji Verde Sauce

Since traveling to Peru earlier this summer, my hubby and I really enjoyed learning about the many additional sauces to put over our meals.

This sauce is a traditional Peruvian Aji Verde sauce which compliments just about anything... beef, fish, chicken, pork, rice - you name it - and surprisingly, it isn't too spicy either. Of course, if you wanted to add a kick though, you could always leave in the seeds of the jalapeno peppers.

 Aji Verde Sauce: serves 4
2 jalapenos (without seeds)
4 tbs fresh cilantro
2.5 Tbs olive oil
2 cloves garlic
2 tbs white vinegar
pinch cumin
salt/pepper
3 tbs fat free sour cream

Place all ingredients in food processor or blender until smooth. Serve over meal.

Greetings From Key West

I must blame my absence these past two weeks on the state of Florida. Last week was spent in Sarasota and this week I am in the keys.

For now, you can enjoy some pictures from the past few days! Stay tune next week for a full review on the best spots to visit while in Florida.

Clean House Freebie

With summer quickly coming to an end, I decided to create a cleaning chart to lessen my work load of "cleaning day." While home for the summer, I designate one day a week to scrub the entire house- usually averaging about 5 hours.

With my full time work schedule coming soon, "cleaning day" just won't fit in... so now I present to you my quick 30 minutes a day solution!

This is my first week starting it out (I wanted to try it out before the summer ends) and I am sort of enjoying the fact that I only have 30 minutes to do a day rather than a one time 5 hour shot.

Happy cleaning!
