Spring Stay-Cation

Living in SoFlo, you sort of feel like you are always on Spring Break. Many students, snow birds and tourists venture down, to experience the missed feeling of warmth.

As soon as March hits, my mind starts racing, thinking about Spring fashion, trips to the beach, food markets and of course, R&R time.

I love getting time off after Easter - not only is it a vacation, but I am more inclined to having morning devotion time with the Lord and reflecting on the celebration of His Resurrection - And this in itself, makes my heart feel so at rest.

So, I decided to have a Stay-cation right at home. I figured - if everyone else is flocking down for their vacation, I might as well take advantage of it too, right?

And of course.. some extra time off always involves a trip to the Fresh Market in the Grove!

A box of Stash tea, organic chicken thighs & some fresh produce later..... and my three hour trip was complete!

Another item on my list, included wedding to - dos. {Bridal shoe purchases, Bridesmaid floral hair pieces, assembling pearl bracelets etc.} You know,  this was my only whole week off of work before the wedding... Hard to believe, I know!! With that being said, I spent half of the time sifting and hunting for all things wedding!

So where did I go on my treasure hunt?

I found a few spots that were actually A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!

My first stop was at a strip center in North Miami, where I found five thrift shops - back to back. My favorite (by far) was the Red, White & Blue. This thrifter was so excited to see all that the store had to offer! Now mind you, you have to enter with a "digging for treasure mentality." Yes, You will get a little dirty and dusty, but I promise you, you have the potential of finding awesome fixer uppers for your home or closet!

I, was lucky enough to find some classy vases that will be used in our November Outdoors Farm wedding, and an adorable copper tea kettle that I want to display in my kitchen... sort of Paula Deen Style, I guess you could say.. Check out her copper collection behind the stove!
This kitchen, is a dream...mhhhh.

The second stop, was the Douglas Gardens Thrift Shop. This thrift shop was HUGE extremely organized! Perfect for the tea cup and china collector!

Total spending for the day: $11.00

{Not too bad if I can say so myself}

In the end, I realized that having a Stay- cation can
be just as fun as an away one- Thank you Spring Break for coming right on time!
