Find Your Balance

Erica Diaz October 7, 2014

The past couple of weeks have been "full". Full of projects, orders, work, travel, family, friends, chores, meals and long lists. Although being full is okay for a season, we have to remind ourselves to prioritize.

Last week, my sweet husband sat me down and asked for more time... what a blessing he is. He opens my eyes to things I do not see. I appreciate his ability to open his heart and communicate his feelings, something I frequently fall short of.

How often do we find ourselves setting out "fires", that seem so unimportant at the end of the day?

Home cooked dinners, quality time, prayer with the Lord, time for each other - priorities.  I never want to look back at a season in our lives and think I was too "full" to make time for what really mattered.

Everything

will

get done. Try changing your plan of action. Find a way to stay organized. Set priorities. Pray. Simplify. Find you balance.

....

Would you join me? Take a moment today to reflect on your priorities. Is you life in balance?

Are you tired? Worn out? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Wedding Invitation: abby + alex

Erica Diaz October 1, 2014

This invitation was created for my dear

friend

who is set to get married this December in Miami, Florida.

It was such an honor working with this couple and seeing their invitation come to life through the use of florals, kraft paper and white ink.

Although the bride and groom currently reside in Brisbane, they were very willing to work together to create this simple yet elegant invitation. The inspiration for the suite was taken from their outdoor venue,

The Copper Estate

.

Printed on kraft paper, this unique invitation also incorporates hand painted flowers illustrations.

Our Visit to Rifle Paper Co + The Coop

Erica Diaz September 25, 2014

This past weekend, we drove to Orlando with my in-laws to attend a sweet family baby shower. Half of Gabriel's family lives in Orlando and we love making trips to visit. I should also mention that

Gari

and

Cortez

got to tag along - they are destined soul mates!

Following the baby shower, we headed to Winter Park to visit

Rifle Paper Co

. and

The Coop

. If you weren't aware, I am a HUGE fan of Rifle Paper. I love

Anna Bond's

small business story and her lovely illustrations. The shop was even better than I had imagined. It was set up in two large, very organic rooms filled with open shelving, rustic planked floor and tons of illustrations. That day, they were hosting a sidewalk sale AND to put even more icing on the already iced cake, my sweet mom-in-love purchased a little

surprise

 for me!

After the shower we decided to walk over to The Coop, a true southern affair, with our cousin who happens to be a local Orlando

blogger

/SAHM. It was great getting to spend time with her and experience such a wonderful gem. The Coop is a deep rooted southern restaurant with a modern twist. They are known for their delicious fried chicken, authentic side dishes and the best bread pudding you'll ever eat! If you are in Winter Park, Florida, I definitely recommend checking these spots out.

Happy Thursday!

Date Night Challenge #datelikeyoumeanit

Erica Diaz September 15, 2014

The other night while at our

connect group

, we were presented with a once a week date night challenge. And to be very transparent with you, when Gabriel and I do not fit one into our schedule ahead of time, we've noticed weeks fly by without true quality time spent together.

If you have kids or not, this challenge is still for you! Those of you with with kids, it's important that your children see you value your relationship with your spouse. This in turn will teach them to hold healthy relationships as they grow older. And if you are in the kidless group up like us, it's equally important to set the foundation early. When the time does come to start a family, you'll already have your priorities inline.

Disclaimer:

Date nights do not have to break the bank! The point is just to get out, make a new memory and spend quality time together. Don't let finding a babysitter become your excuse.

Below are some date ideas that were shared in our group:

- cook dinner together

- grab ice cream

- walk around west elm (

I loved this one!!

)

- visit the local book store

- grab a coffee

- visit the fresh market

- go for a bike ride

- take a walk in the park

- sit on a bench and watch the world go by

Last week, our date night consisted of staying home in our pj's (

which is acceptable

), baking apple pie and of course eating it all up! Total cost: about $5 for the pie ingredients.

My friends, I challenge you to make the investment and set date nights as a priority!

.......

Aside for building our marriage, I love building community. For fun, hashtag your date or follow along with us #datelikeyoumeanit - At the end of the month, we will pick our favorite post and send you and your spouse a gift card to enjoy on a future date!

Happy Monday!
