Simple Summer Smoothie

Living in Miami, summers can be brutal! Luckily, our ninja blender has made my late afternoon smoothies a breeze! This recipe is very simple, low calorie and healthy!

This week (we are taking it easy in the Bahamas) and I will probably be indulging in way too many smoothies with double the sugar & calories of course!

Summer Berry Smoothie:
1.5 c frozen strawberries
1 c. water
1/2 c. frozen blueberries (optional)
1/4 c. raw oats (optional)

1. Add all ingredients & blend together!

You can add sugar or honey if you would like - I find it to be sweet without any, but it is up to you!

Have a great week!

Where has this week gone? Staying longer than usual in Tampa definitely made the time fly. And of course, my husband and I are anxiously waiting for this week to be over since we're leaving to the Bahamas with my in-laws on Sunday. He has been working so hard lately and needs this vacation more than anyone!

High Five For Friday:

1. Spent a morning at the bookstore.
2. Found new children's ebook apps.
3. Made my first pillow.
4. Had some of my favorite (buddy brew) coffee.
5.  Spent lots of time with my sis.

How was your week?

Today will be spent cleaning the house, running last minute errands and packing away. I hope you have a happy end to your week and get some rest in this weekend.

The Oxford Exchange

Last weekend while in Tampa, I discovered a historical and unique spot right outside of downtown.

What they offer:
Bookstore - Buddy Brew Coffee -  Shopping - Commerce Club - Tebella Tea - Restaurant

A 1920s throwback - Anthropology mixed with Books & Books - serving the best roasted coffee in town - tons of conference rooms and vintage inspired study areas. Wow!

The Oxford Exachge is a true gem.

A typical day could look like this:
8am latte from Buddy Brew while reading the New York Times.
9am client meeting in a conference room.
11am phone call in a padded leather room.
12pm chicken salad sandwich & sweet potato fries in the sun room.
2pm pit stop to pick up the next best seller on your list.
3pm pick up a scarf for your sister's birthday.
4pm tea in the common area while reading your new best seller.
5pm post meeting via skype in the study lounge upstairs.

The OE is a free place to work, play, eat and shop.  If you want to use the commerce area on a regular basis, a membership must be purchased though. The going rate is $100 per month. Not bad once you see the environment. Do not let the fee steer you away, everything else is free to enjoy so feel free to browse around!

Weekend Extended

Today, is being spent at my parent's house since we were here for Father's Day weekend. On our way out of town this afternoon, we'll be stopping to eat at this new downtown spot that I am so excited to share about later this week!  It's definitely on the top of my list as the most interesting place in Tampa!

As for now, you can check out my new wedding page that I've put together. I am still in the process of adding to the list so you can check back later for even more wedding fun!

the new & improved brussels sprout

When I was a kid, I don't remember ever craving a brussels sprout. To be honest, I don't remember ever craving any vegtable... my have the times changed.

Enter in my adult life.

I crave veggies. Broccoli, kale, corn, asparagus.... and now even brussels sprouts.

Still not convinced you will like them? Give them shot- it's all in the way you cook them. They almost taste as delicious as a piece of steak. Ok, did I go over board? Maybe, maybe not. That is for you to find out!

The 38 calorie meal
1. Cut brussels in half omitting the end.
2. Place in pan that is lightly oiled.
3. Add salt & pepper.
4. Saute on each side for about 5 minutes.

When you see that each side has charred a bit, they are done! Try not to over cook them so they do not become soggy.

Enjoy!
